Twin Cities Endodontic Specialists is dedicated to providing exceptional dental care and state-of-the-art technology—with your comfort always in mind.

As endodontic specialists our primary goal is to save your natural tooth in a comfortable, functional, and aesthetic condition, as well as alleviating severe pain and treating traumatic injury.

Dr’s Kenneth Zucker and Jason Read trained an additional two years after dental school to become endodontic specialists. They all attend extensive continuing education courses, to not only to refresh, but to learn the latest in research and clinical techniques.

Our Doctors

Kenneth Zucker, DDS, MS, FACD

Dr. Kenneth ZuckerDr. Kenneth Zucker graduated from Georgetown University School of Dentistry in 1974. After completing a general practice residency at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Minneapolis, MN in 1975, he served as Chief of VA Outpatient Dental Services and Assistant Chief of the Dental Service. Dr. Zucker completed his endodontic residency and Master’s Degree in Dentistry at the University of Minnesota in 1983, and has maintained his private practice since then.

He is an active member of The American Association of Endodontists, The American Dental Association, The Minnesota Dental Association, The Minnesota Association of Endodontists, and The St. Paul District Dental Society. It has been very rewarding for him to serve in several key leadership positions within these organizations. Dr. Zucker has served on the Board of Directors for the American Association of Endodontitists as well as many committee positions with this organization. He is also a Dentsply Opinion Leader, which is an select group of endodontists who meet to review new products and concepts in the field. In 2009 Dr. Zucker was inducted as a fellow in the American College of Dentistry. Dr. Zucker teaches graduate endodontics at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry and continues as a consultant for The Department of Veteran’s Affairs Dental Service. He lectures locally, nationally, and internationally on various endodontic topics.

In his spare time, Dr. Zucker enjoys cooking, golf, skiing, traveling, and spending time with his family.

After practicing endodontics for over 30 years, Dr. Zucker gains the most satisfaction from his job when an anxious patient leaves his office with a smile and comments that their root canal procedure was easier than their last filling!

Brian Barsness, DMD, MS

Dr. Brian BarsnessDr. Brian Barsness completed the endodontic residency at the University of Minnesota in 2014 where he also did his undergraduate dental training. After dental school, Dr. Barsness completed a GPR program at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center and went on to practice general dentistry for 7 years before deciding to specialize. He is currently a faculty member in the Division of Endodontics at the University of Minnesota, School of Dentistry as well as working in our practice part time.

Dr. Barsness enjoys the combined technical challenges of endodontic therapy, along with personalizing care for his patients.  His goal is to provide the best possible care, while being completely responsive to the needs of the patient.

Brian resides in Vadnais Heights with his wife, two children, and two golden retrievers. He has many interests outside dentistry including sailing, marathon running, skiing, and playing the acoustic guitar.

Our Staff

Our experienced staff consists of our helpful front desk receptionists who both have extensive experience in dental offices dealing with endodontic problems. If you are in pain, they are at the front line to schedule you an expedient appointment to take care of your problem. Don’t hesitate to call on them to answer any questions you might have about your current treatment or billing questions.

Our four chairside licensed dental assistants have a total of 45 years of experience in our office. They are highly proficient as well as empathetic to your immediate dental problems. They take pride in keeping our treatment rooms neat and sterile, and have extensive knowledge of endodontic techniques. Most importantly, they are there to make sure you have the best experience possible.

Deb, our practice manager, has been with our practice for over 30 years. She originally started as a licensed dental assistant and now is responsible for the daily goings on at our practice. She is also active in organized dentistry and endodontics and has presented seminars at our national meetings. If we want anything done, we ask Deb.
